TikTok star goes viral with Manchester's 'official' sandwich - except Mancunians are completely disagreeing with everything about it

There’s a lot that can be said about the food in Manchester. As a vastly cultural city-region, we can lay claim to a rich variety of tastes and flavours - from the chip shop barm to the Manchester tart and the Lancashire Hotpot to the Curry Mile Korma.

So, when popular TikTok star Big Nibbles - who has more than 3m likes and over 84,000 followers - shared their version of the ‘official’ Manchester sandwich earlier this month as part of an ongoing series where they make sandwiches based on UK towns and cities, people weren't too happy with his choice of ingredients.

According to the influencer, our ‘official’ sandwich is essentially a pulled pork sub with Gouda cheese and raw red onions - and people on TikTok are not having it, nor are they impressed with Nibbles’ cheeky insinuations about Manchester.

Narrating the video, Big Nibbles says of Manchester: “Once a cultural icon of the north, it now acts as London 2.0 without the Southern weather.

“Considering the alarming amount of gun crime, Mancunians still love telling you how great their city is - smiling through gritted teeth as their landlord raises their rent by another £600.”

Pre-emptively anticipating the backlash, the content creator captioned the post: “I have now been banned from the North”.

Responding to the video, one person commented: “I've lived here all my 57 years life so far and NEVER has this been a sandwich for Manchester.” Another quipped: “What even is that?”
