Tiger Woods 'strikes it well' during Augusta practice round with Aussie Cam Davis

Cam Davis was already feeling like a «fanboy» before his Masters practice round turned even more magical.

Tiger Woods asked if he could join the Australian for a few holes, then offered up some priceless tips to the Augusta National first-timer.

«It was very cool,» Davis said of the chance encounter.

«He ended up behind me and just joined up with me because it was a little slow in front of us.

»Yeah, trying to pick his brain a little bit but, at the same time, just enjoying being in his presence. I've met him a couple of times. It was the first time I've played any golf with him."

Whether he will tee up on Thursday remains the million-dollar question after Woods arrived at Augusta out of the blue, sparking speculation the 15-times major champion may make a spectacular comeback this week, after his career-threatening car crash 14 months ago.

«He said it's still a game-time decision. We'll see how that goes,» Davis said.

«He's hitting the shots that you know you should hit, but it's just executing them. He wasn't doing anything special, but he was playing well. Everything was looking pretty solid.

»It will be great to see him out here if he decides to tee it up on Thursday."

For his take, Davis felt the 46-year-old looked in decent enough shape to play and chase what would be an extraordinary sixth green jacket.

"[He's] still a little slow going up a couple of hills on 17 and 18. I mean, I was as well," Davis said.

«He's been through a lot more than I have so, yeah, he's striking it well.

»He's hitting it far enough to play the holes the way you need to play them.

«I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be able to put rounds together out here.

»He hits the proper shot and struck it really well and good distance control, all the things
