Ticket and family fun day details for Middlesbrough's Riverside friendly with Marseille

Middlesbrough have announced details and ticket information for the Marseille friendly this summer and the family fun evening to accompany it. The friendly with the French giants will round off Boro's season preparations after a busy pre-season schedule.

The French Ligue 1 runners-up will provide a stern test for Chris Wilder's side at the Riverside Stadium on Friday, July 22, just eight days before they kick-off their league campaign on home turf against West Brom. Tickets for the game are on sale now from the club's online ticketing site and are priced at £10 for adults and £5 concessions, with the emphasis on family entertainment on the evening.

Boro have given more details about what they are calling a family fun evening built around the pre-season friendly, with the FanZone set to be expanded for the game and will include children's entertainers, face-painters, live music, and additional food and drink offerings. Half-time of the game will also see the return of penalties with local youth teams taking part, and there will also be the launch of a new Host & Stay ‘name the player’ competition.

Middlesbrough to host French giants Marseille in Riverside friendly ahead of the new season

Marseille are managed by the Argentine Jorge Sampaoli and finished second in the French top tier last season. Their squad boasts the likes of former West Ham star Dimitri Payet, former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi and Polish international Arkadiusz Milik.

Initially, only the West Stand is being opened for the game, though the club are urging supporters to book in advance to avoid any congestion on the night, with early demand meaning the club will know whether opening another stand is necessary or not.
