Three ways Erik ten Hag impressed Man Utd bosses to save his job

Erik ten Hag has managed to retain his position as Manchester United's manager, having impressed the club's bosses in three significant areas.

The Dutchman's future was under scrutiny during a performance review following a season that saw United finish eighth in the Premier League and exit the Champions League at the group stage, with their cause not helped by a mountain of injuries. It had been thought that even the surprise victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final may not be enough to keep him in the job.

The football department at United, headed by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, considered potential replacements, including Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, and Roberto De Zerbi. Ultimately, they chose to stick with Ten Hag, who is expected to receive a new contract as his current one expires next summer.

So why have the Red Devils decided to keep faith in Ten Hag? According to the Mirror, club officials have been impressed by Ten Hag's unwavering work ethic and commitment to the role, plus his professionalism and dignity under the immense pressure that comes with managing at Old Trafford.

The development of promising young talents, particularly Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, under his guidance was another significant factor.

Ratcliffe and his team acknowledged that injuries within the squad contributed to their shortcomings in the league and Europe. They also believed he deserved an opportunity to prove himself within the newly established football structure of the club.

Other factors may have played a role in Ten Hag
