Three Irish medal hopefuls in today's Euro swimming championships

There are three Irish medals hopefuls in tonight's finals at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris.

John Shortt (19) will be in the men's 200-metres backstroke final at 5:40pm Irish time.

Mona McSharry came through second-fastest in qualifying for the women's 100-metres breaststroke final, which is underway just before 6pm.

After this, reigning Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen will be in the men's 800-metres freestyle final just after 7pm.

This morning, Victoria Catterson, Grace Davison and Danielle Farrell go in the heats of the women's 200-metres freestyle from 8:30am.

Matthew Hamilton and Jacob Armon are in the field for the men's 100-metres butterfly.

Lottie Cullen and Danielle Hill will go for places in the women's 50-metres backstroke semi-finals, while the 200-metres breaststroke heats include Jack Kelly and Eoin Corby.

And Ellen Walshe competes in the women's 400-metres individual medley.
