'This isn't true' - Luke Edwards reacts as big Newcastle rumour emerges

Newcastle United correspondent Luke Edwards has taken to Twitter to deny the rumours currently circulating about potential frustrations from Allan Saint-Maximin. 

The French winger missed the game at the weekend as a result of an injury issue, and speculation has emerged on Twitter regarding his actual availability to play against Brentford.

Some rumours had claimed the 24-year-old flew to Monaco last week for a holiday, with Eddie Howe in the dark as to when he will return to the match squad.

Saint-Maximin missed Newcastle’s previous clash against West Ham United earlier this month and was claimed to be a late call by Howe in his press conference leading up to the game against Brentford.

However, Edwards took to Twitter to deny those claims, with the Frenchman working on his potential Newcastle return, which has been seen via the player’s recent Instagram posts.

“This isn’t true…. ASM hasn’t done this, Howe hasn’t been played,” Edwards tweeted.

This will come as good news to the Newcastle fans who may have feared the mood inside the dressing room had been disrupted by the Frenchman’s recent absence.

At a time where the Magpies are still fighting for their Premier League survival, the last thing we think a club in their position would need is a bad egg. So it will be a relief Edwards has discredited those rumours.

Earlier in the season, the absence of Saint-Maximin from the starting XI would have been seen as disastrous for the Toon given the influence he has had on the pitch.
