Thierry Henry leaves pundits speechless with explanation of Erling Haaland's Man City impact

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has praised how Erling Haaland fits into the Manchester City team as his brilliant season continues at the Etihad Stadium.

The Norwegian striker was at the top of his game on Sunday as he inspired the Blues to a 6-3 victory over Manchester United. Haaland's hat trick and two assists for Phil Foden left him stealing the headlines once more.

His goal tally stands at a mighty 17 after just 11 competitive appearances and he looks to be on course to break several long-standing records in the Premier League. Discussing whether Haaland would be having the same success as Robert Lewandowski if he was at Barcelona ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League fixtures, Henry explained to CBS Sports why the 22-year-old has been in such great form.

"I don't know [if he would be having the same success at Barca], it's a different ball game," the 45-year-old said. "Like I always say, you need to cast the right actor for the right movie.

"What Haaland is doing, that's the perfect actor for that team. Sometimes you play in another team - I wouldn't have played for Bolton [for example], are you mad?"

Henry's comparison left Carragher and Richards dumbfounded, with the latter naturally responding, "Wow!"

He added: "That's what I'm saying, if you were to play long ball under Sam Allardyce, I would have left at half-time. Nobody is saying that Haaland is not doing well and the impact is not great.

"I'm saying that Lewandowski has as big of an impact as what Haaland is doing. If you argue the fact that Man City - were they top of the league last year? Were they competing? Were Barca top of the league? No they were not.
