Thiago rejects claim over Liverpool title 'boost' in battle with Man City

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has admitted going top of the table with a win over Watford on Saturday won't change the dynamic of the title race.

Premier League action returns this weekend and the Reds welcome Watford in the early kick-off on Saturday, before Manchester City face Burnley shortly after. A win against Roy Hodgson's side will take Liverpool above City in the table, albeit potentially just temporarily.

Liverpool sitting top would certainly put pressure on Pep Guardiola's side to beat Burnley at Turf Moor, but Thiago says it wouldn't come as a 'boost' for the team as they can only depend on themselves.

"No, I don’t think so," he told liverpoolfc.com. "I don’t think to see us on top before City plays would be a boost.

"No, it’s just that we are in a moment where every three points count and we are really glad to arrive at this position and fight and depend on us."

Just a single point separates Liverpool and City at the top of the table, but the league title isn't the only piece of silverware the Reds have their eye on. With
