'They will win the NLD and nick the spot' - Chris Sutton drops huge Spurs vs Arsenal claim

The race for the final Champions League place has been a hot topic of conversation in recent weeks and Tottenham sat inside the top four after their convincing 3-1 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

However, they were displaced just a couple of hours later as Arsenal hit back with a 2-1 victory at West Ham United to restore their position in fourth ahead of a highly-anticipated north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Thursday. 

Antonio Conte’s Spurs side sit two points behind their city rivals with four games to go and it looks as though the two will battle it out with Manchester United and West Ham falling to the wayside.

The jury seems split on who will take the coveted spot but Sutton hasn’t mixed his words and thinks the Whites will edge in front of the Gunners.

Speaking on the Football Daily Podcast (41.24-41.29) he said:

“I think Spurs will nick it, I think they will win the north London derby and nick the spot of Arsenal.”

This Saturday night, Conte’s side face an arduous trip to Anfield to face title-chasing Liverpool while Arsenal may have the chance to move further clear when they take on the struggling Leeds United the next day.

Heading into the derby, Tottenham could be as far as five points behind their rivals so Saturday’s trip up north seems like a must-win game in the race for Champions League football. 

They have taken points from seven of their last ten away games in the top-flight which is encouraging heading to Merseyside and did draw 2-2 in the reverse fixture while at home they have won four of their last five matches which makes for good reading prior to the visit of Arsenal.
