'They invest money' - Zlatan Ibrahimovic defends Manchester United's owners the Glazers

Zlatan Ibrahimovic doesn't understand the 'real reason' why Manchester United fans are desperate for the Glazers to leave. United fans have consistently protested against the Glazers since they became majority shareholders at Old Trafford in 2005 through a controversial leveraged buyout.

The Glazers announced in November they were looking at 'strategic alternatives' and that led to multiple rounds of bidding for United, with Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe submitting their proposals.

But the one-year anniversary of that announcement is now approaching and there's been no indication the Glazers will sell. The process has rumbled on throughout the summer into the new season and uncertainty remains.

Ibrahimovic's interview with Piers Morgan was broadcast this week and in that conversation, he defended the Glazers by claiming they are good owners because they've signed players for 'a high amount of money'.

"I think now in Man Utd, I don't know, there are some kind of demonstrations about the owners to sell it and that, but just a reminder, the owners are investing," he told Piers Morgan Uncensored.

"It is not like they are not investing because they brought in many players for a high amount of money. So I think it's a little bit wrong saying that they are not doing what the fans expect them to do, then I don't know what the real reason is behind everything."

He was also asked about Cristiano Ronaldo's claim that some younger players at the club showed him a lack of respect during his second stint at Old Trafford and he replied in a typical Ibrahimovic fashion.
