'They actually believe that' - Insider shares big PIF worry behind-scenes at Newcastle

Journalist Dean Jones has exclusively told This Is Futbol that Newcastle United may opt for the loan route in the summer due to FFP rules.

Newcastle have recently taken the crown of the richest club in world football after the Saudi takeover, but manager Eddie Howe is set to have just £90 million at his disposal in the summer, due to the cautiousness of the club of the rulings regarding FFP for Premier League clubs.

The Magpies have seen an impressive turnaround of form since January, they now find themselves 13th in the Premier League table, whereas they were in the bottom three when Howe was appointed, and this is largely down to the summer signings of Matt Targett, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.

With the reported budget that Howe has in the summer, Jones highlighted that they go down a different route to avoid the FFP rule that is put in place.

“I think that the type of deals they do could actually end up being a lot of loan with obligation to buy because Newcastle have to be cautious about financial fair play. And they actually believe that they will be under more scrutiny than any other club that’s had a takeover at this level,” Jones said.

Newcastle have been linked to a haul of players ahead of the summer transfer window, but they may face serious consequences if they do not follow the rules and spend a stupendous amount of money all in one go.
