Theunis de Bruyn's 179 powers Titans to record 453/3 against the Dragons

The Titans hit the highest team scoring note in South African List A cricket history when they scored 453/3 against the North-West Dragons in their Cricket South Africa 1-Day Cup clash on Wednesday at SuperSport Park.

The score went past the highest ever score made in South Africa in a one-day game, the 439/2 made by the Proteas against the West Indies in January 2015.

The score also exceeded the 434/4 and the 438/9 made by Australia and South Africa respectively in the legendary '438' game that took place at the Wanderers in 2006.

It was the first time since the 2016/17 season that the Titans exceeded 400 in a List A game and it is the fourth time they've crossed the barrier.

Their previous 400-plus scores were 425/5 against the Warriors in the final of the 2016/17 competition, which was preceded by the 415/3 against the Lions at the Wanderers in the same tournament.

The 400/5 against the Cape Cobras was the first successful crossing of the boundary, with all three games containing 150-plus scores with Jonathan Vandiar (153) and Henry Davids (163) doing the business against the Cobras.

Aiden Markram features twice on the list with 150-plus scored in the 400s with 183 against the Lions and 161 against the Warriors in the final.

Davids aided Markram with 114 and 128 in the games against the Warriors and the Lions respectively.

The biggest winner in Wednesday's turkey shoot was Theunis de Bruyn, who compiled a rapid fire 179 off 115 balls while Neil Brand made an unbeaten 115 off 75 balls.

Captain Sibonelo Makhanya pushed the total into record realms with 53* off 20 balls while Gihahn Cloete (58) and Heinrich Klaasen (37) also lent helping hands.
