"There is..." - Journalist confirms West Ham do have interest in deal for £20m star

West Ham have an interest in Leicester City left-back Luke Thomas, says Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic is the player the east London club are currently targeting for that position, but Taylor has suggested that they could turn to Thomas if they fail to land the Serbian this summer.

According to the MailOnline, West Ham like Thomas but will have to pay £20m for the 21-year-old’s services.

The same outlet states that the Hammers have already made an offer for Kostic, who is clearly David Moyes’ No.1 target for the left-back position.

The Scotsman has already seen what Kostic can do, with the 29-year-old part of the Frankfurt team that knocked West Ham out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage last season.

In total, Kostic made 42 appearances during the 2021/22 campaign, scoring seven goals in the process.

If West Ham cannot sign Kostic in this transfer window, Taylor can see them possibly turning to Thomas.

When asked by GIVEMESPORT if there is interest in Thomas from the Premier League outfit, the Daily Express journalist said: “There is. He’s one if Kostic wasn’t to happen. Left-back’s been one of the priorities for West Ham.

“Hassane Kamara was another one that they looked at, but they never followed up their interest.”

It is clear that Moyes is trying to strengthen his side at left-back, so Thomas could be a very smart addition.

While the Englishman is just 21 years of age, he has already played 39 times in the Premier League and has often impressed when on the pitch.

Over the last year, Thomas has ranked in the 91st percentile for pressures and the 90th for blocks among full-backs (via FBref).
