Theatre fans 'so excited' as 'magical' Mary Poppins musical comes to Manchester

Theatre fans say they 'can't wait to book' tickets for the newest show announced at Manchester's Palace Theatre.

Bosses have teased the arrival of the Mary Poppins musical on social media with a short clip showing the nanny's boots landing on the ground followed by her iconic bag.

Hundreds of people reacted to the post, with many saying they've seen the 'amazing' show in London and on a previous tour in Manchester and are looking forward to booking seats.

The Cameron Mackintosh and Disney production will run here from April 9 to May 17 2025 as part of a UK and Ireland tour and you can sign up for priority access to tickets here, ahead of them going on sale on Friday, March 15. They'll then go on general sale from Monday, March 18.

Based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney film, the story of the world’s favourite nanny arriving on Cherry Tree Lane promises to be 'more magical than ever before featuring dazzling choreography, incredible effects and unforgettable songs'.

Twenty years after the world premiere in Bristol and subsequent, record breaking productions around the world, acclaimed Australian stars, Stefanie Jones and Jack Chambers reprise their roles as Mary Poppins and Bert, having both received critical acclaim and nightly standing ovations for their performances in the recent Australian production.

Commenting on the announcement on the Palace Theatre's Facebook page, Wayne Buckley said: "Magical and so entertaining, one of my top favourites, I saw it in London then Manchester. These peeps are so clever."

"Omg I loved this the last time it was here!!" said Kelly Halligan, with Joanne Cottam adding:
