'The world's gone mad': Ed Sheeran fans 'gutted' as Subtract tour tickets go on sale for nearly £100

Ed Sheeran fans eager to see the singer on his latest tour have been left disappointed by the cost of tickets.

The 32-year-old kicks off his "-" (pronounced 'subtract') tour in Manchester on March 23, followed by the O2 Arena in London (March 24 and 25), then Glasgow (March 28), Dublin (March 30), and onto Paris for one night (April 2). It accompanies his latest album of the same name, which is released on May 5.

But fans were left surprised when they logged on to Ticketmaster on Friday morning (March 10) to see ticket prices started at £98. Many venues have already sold out, but as of 12.30pm on Friday at Glasgow's OVO Hydro Arena, tickets at the very back - including blocks 335 to 324 - began at £98, not including booking fees.

People quickly took to social media to share their disappointment in the pricing. @Kat1980Hockey tweeted: "@edsheeran wanted to take the kids to see you at the O2 but for £100 a ticket to sit in the gods no thank you the worlds gone insane" and @hannahsmegg said: "I have never missed an Ed Sheeran show in manchester but I refuse to pay £100 for a ticket".

@hanelice_ added: "Absolutely gutted with the price of the @edsheeran tickets for Manchester - with bookings fees can’t afford £100+ #Subtract" and @hello_its_chlo said: "Was buzzing to try get tickets to see @edsheeran in Glasgow after having to sell our tickets for his last show due to having covid, absolutely gutted they’re near £100 each!!!!!"

@OMGitsNATH commented: "I know gig tickets are expensive these days, but @edsheeran thinking he can charge £100 a ticket to play songs no one will know and on a weeks notice is a joke," while @Jamie_Hudson_ tweeted:
