The 'UK's best' seaside town has stunning beaches and a castle to explore
It's no secret that the North East is home to some of the most stunning beaches and coastal spots in the UK. One such gem, just an hour's drive from Newcastle city centre, has been crowned the best seaside town in the country for a remarkable four consecutive years.
The North Sea coast always looks spectacular on screen, whether it's featuring in popular ITV drama Vera, cooking series, or property shows like Location, Location, Location or Love it or List It.
Not to mention, parts of North Tyneside and Northumberland have also made their way onto the big screen; Harrison Ford can vouch for this, having spent time exploring the region while filming the latest Indiana Jones movie, Dial of Destiny, in 2021.
Interestingly, the location where Harrison and his team stayed during the summer shoot has topped national rankings for four straight years.
Enter Bamburgh, which, despite technically being a village, has been named the best seaside town by consumer champions Which? every year since 2021.
These rankings are based on a survey of its members, with last year's results determined by over 5,000 votes. Bamburgh beat competition from across the country, including another contender from the North East, reports Chronicle Live.
Bamburgh has been crowned the UK's best coastal town, boasting a 'destination score' of 86% and a five-star rating for its beach.
The Northumberland hotspot is a favourite among locals and city dwellers seeking fresh sea air, and it has also attracted a host of celebrity visitors.
Harrison Ford and his Indiana Jones co-stars were spotted enjoying a stroll on Bamburgh beach during a break from filming at the castle. Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts also shared snaps from her visit to Bamburgh on
