The truth behind the rumours Oasis were spotted filming in Stockport

Oasis fans in Stockport thought they were in luck when rumours spread that the Gallagher brothers were in town.

The rumour mill began to spin when a film crew was spotted outside a local pizzeria on Heaton Moor Road on Thursday night (September 12). Many presumed the siblings had graced the suburb with their presence.

According to some, the recording party visited a local pub after filming. Unfortunately however, fans will have to wait another day for the historic band to visit Stockport.

It has been confirmed to the MEN that filming taking place was for a JD advert and no Oasis members were in attendance.

A spokesperson for JD told the Manchester Evening News: "This was the filming of a JD ad, and Oasis were not present."

Information about the nature of the advert and its release are scarce, but from photos it looks Heaton's Pizza House will feature heavily in the ad. Earlier this week a Gallagher brother was definitely spotted however, Liam was pictured taking his dog Buttons for a walk in the Southwest of England after a holiday in the south of France.

Tens of thousands of Oasis fans will find out today (September 13) if they have a chance of bagging tickets for the band's final two UK dates. Fans have now started receiving codes for the Wembley Stadium gigs after registering last week.

The band announced they were adding the two extra shows to their world tour - at the London venue on September 27 and 28 next year - earlier this month.

It came after millions of people missed out on getting tickets for Oasis's 17 UK date tour when they went on general sale at the end of August.
