'The tragic reason I lost six stone and dramatically changed my life'

A mum has revealed the heartbreaking reason behind her incredible six stone weight loss.

Hollie Alabaster was approaching her 30th birthday when she realised she was the same size as her mum when she died in 2013.

Judy had been ill when she passed away at the age of 50 but her secondary cause of death was given as morbid obesity. She was a dress size 22 at the time.

Mum-of-one Hollie, from Sandbach in Cheshire, was hit by the shocking revelation when she ordered a size 20 blazer for her birthday celebrations.

When it arrived, she tried it on couldn't fasten it up, resulting in her having to use a belt to wear it.

But the mum was set for a further shock when she later asked for a life insurance quote and was given a much higher sum than expected. The company told her this was because she was morbidly obese.

Hearing those words along with being the same dress size as her mum when she died gave Hollie the motivation she needed to change.

The 32-year-old has since gone on to lose six stone in just over six months and has become a weight loss consultant herself.

The mum went from 15st 10lbs and a dress size 22 at the end of June 2022 to 9st 10lbs and a dress size of 10-12 by January 2023.

Recalling just how shocked she was to read that she was morbidly obese, Hollie, who is a teacher, said: "I had never given myself that kind of label. I didn't realise how bad it was."
