The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store in 2023, and will be included in Xbox and PC Game Pass.

Although the publisher and developer, Gun Media and Sumo Nottingham, have yet to announce a specific release date, they have now stated that it will be released in 2023. 

The game’s release date was announced alongside the first gameplay trailer, which gives players a clearer idea of what to anticipate from the asymmetrical title. Fans of Gun Media’s Friday the 13th: The Game will recognize the gameplay, although there are a few important differences.

The trailer begins with a survivor crawling through the rear of a car, only to be met on the other side by a killer wielding a knife, ready to stab and hack. But it’s not Leatherface. We get to face the entire Sawyer family, and this is just one member, based on the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

It then transitions to Leatherface revving up his funky chainsaw, an older Sawyer searching for survivors, the underground mines, and more, as seen in the video embedded above. Leatherface is even capable of lurking in small spaces and then leaping out, ramming his chainsaw into the stomachs of the survivors, effectively turning Dead by Daylight’s locker system on its head.
