"The signs are so good right now" – Journalist drops exciting Arsenal claim involving £45m star

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has settled in quickly at the Emirates Stadium, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 56-cap Brazil international has starred in pre-season for the Gunners, and Jones is expecting him to continue having a massive impact on Mikel Arteta’s squad.

It’s easy to get carried away during pre-season, with games more about fitness rather than the results themselves.

But it’s hard not to be impressed by the start Jesus has enjoyed since making the £45m move from Manchester City last month.

In his first game in red and white, Jesus needed less than 90 seconds to make his mark after coming off the bench to fire home against Nuremberg.

With Arsenal trailing 2-0 at half-time, the striker’s introduction, which saw him grab a second, was the catalyst for a 5-3 comeback win in the second half.

Jesus then made it three goals in two games with another sumptuous finish against Everton in the club’s first game of their pre-season tour of the US last weekend, before he was also heavily involved in Bukayo Saka’s second.

He’ll obviously be judged on the goals he scores when the new Premier League season gets underway, but Jones reckons the signs are good for Arsenal.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “We will have to wait and see whether he can continue to deliver, but the signs are so good right now and we know that he’s going to be so key to this team, not just his goal output, but the way he’s gelling this team together and the other players around him.”

Jesus only hit double figures twice in his five full seasons with Manchester City, which suggests that scoring 20 might be slightly optimistic.

However, the most minutes he ever played in a top-flight campaign was 2,059, which is less than 23 full matches.
