The Rangers transfer rules revealed by Philippe Clement as key to late recruitment drive pinpointed

Philippe Clement has revealed the Rangers transfer rules in place as the deadline fast approaches with Ben Davies heading out of the door.

The Ibrox gaffer has just one week left of wheeling and dealing before he has to settle with the squad he has in place until he can look to add again in January. The Light Blues kicked off recruitment early in the summer window but that approach has now slowed right down with money proving to be the key issue. The Belgian states that in order to add he needs to let players go as he pointed to the 'high wages' of the past. A host of names have been linked with the exit door including Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell while Record Sport exclusively revealed Davies is edging close to joining Birmingham City for the season.

Clement refused to go into detail when asked the question over Davies, he said: "I will not go into rumours until things are signed and sure. I cannot say anything about that." Asked how many first-team players he needs to let go and if it will have any say on how many he can bring in, he continued: "It has to do with money. It has to do with high wages from the past and replacing them with players with lower wages.

"I think the most important thing for every club is to get the right players and quality in. Everybody in the club is working really hard on that, every moment they are awake, the same thing for me. You get a lot of players to look from recruitment until late at night or until very late into the night. That is our job to do and we want to get people in and raise the quality otherwise it is of no-use. Everybody is working hard on that.
