The pregnant lawyer who helped jail killer husband from beyond the grave

A pregnant lawyer who was murdered by her husband had collected evidence that helped put him behind bars. Fawziyah Javed and her unborn child were killed when the father of her child, Kashif Anwar, attacked them at Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh.

Anwar pushed Fawziyah off a cliff at the popular tourist spot in Scotland, but a passer-by heard her talk about the attack while she was critically injured. Fawziyah, who was an employment lawyer, told the passer-by: ""Don't let my husband near me, he pushed me."

Furthermore, Alex Prentice KC, the main prosecutor said that Fawziyah, from Leeds, had secretly recorded phone calls where Anwar threatened her and went to the police twice to report his abusive behaviour. She made another report just days before she was killed on a weekend trip to Edinburgh.

YorkshireLive reports how a two-part documentary on Channel 4 confirmed a lot of evidence collected by Fawziyah led to the main part of the prosecution case, according to prosecutor Prentice. He added: "The evidence of what Fawziyah said was crucial. It was effectively Fawziyah speaking to the jury. I have prosecuted many murder cases over the course of my career but for a variety of reasons this case is extraordinary."

Prentice, who spoke to the team behind The Push documentary, said it would have been "very difficult" to find Anwar guilty without the evidence, as The Mirror reports. A friend and colleague of Fawziyah, known only as Ingrid, said: "She built this massive mountain of evidence culminating with giving a statement to the police on the verge of her dying."
