The National Trust is running free activities for kids in Greater Manchester this half term
October half term is upon us, which is great news for kids but it also means trying to find activities to keep them busy. Luckily there are lots of things on offer in Greater Manchester over the coming days to occupy little ones, big teens and those in between.
Bearing in mind families have a budget to stick to, the National Trust is providing free trails and activities to help kids get outside and explore nature this half term. The charity is inviting people to get outdoors and experience the beauty of autumn, as well as keeping an eye out for wildlife on their doorstep.
From October 23-29 ten parks across Greater Manchester will have a free family trail, including Angel Meadows, Castlefield Viaduct and Boggart Hole Clough. The trails will give tips on what to look out for, mindfulness moments and crafty activities you can do in the park or at home.

There’s even a map you can download to see which parks are taking part, which you can view here. In addition, the National Trust, in collaboration with Manchester City Parks, has sent out over 8,000 spotters guides and viewfinders to schools and communities across the area to help kids get involved with nature.
Visitors to Whitworth Park can keep their eyes peeled and look out for the interactive installation ‘Leaf Peeping Pavillion’. Designed and delivered with key collaborators Little Greene, The Whitworth and Manchester based artist Venessa Scott and Easypeel Studios, the installation encourages new views of nature and the changing autumn leaves.
