The Match Preview - Brighton (H): Newcastle's momentum, the Dan Burn impact and Fabian Schar turnaround

Newcastle United are looking to continue to their great start to 2022, with a win over Brighton. Eddie Howe’s men face the South Coast side on Saturday looking to take their unbeaten run to eight games.

Brighton sit 10th in the Premier League table but have lost the last three games and are in desperate need of a victory to stop the rot but face a Newcastle side full of confidence. A win for the Magpies would put them just five points behind Brighton but crucially potentially seven above the drop zone.

On the via The Everything is Black and White Podcast, Andrew Musgrove and John Gibson look ahead to the game. The pair discuss Brighton’s poor form, United’s momentum, the impact of Dan Burn and the turnaround in Fabian Schar - plus much more.

Speaking about the game itself, Gibbo said: “They are a jinx club to us and there is a bit of extra pressure on Newcastle to get three points because the games that come after this are all away.

“It doesn’t matter that we’ve now got a good away record having won at Leeds, drawn at West Ham and beaten Brentford, before that we had five months without a win on the road. If Newcastle only draw on Saturday we’ve then got Southampton, Chelsea and Everton - all away.

“We want that cushion of three points. I believe we will get it - I believe we will win this game.”
