The key questions answered ahead of England's fifth Test against India

England will begin their re-arranged fifth Test against India on Friday morning, with question marks lingering over the heads of several players.

Virat Kohli is under pressure, having gone 74 innings without picking up an international ton, while the aggressive 'Baz-ball' will force the tourists to react.

With just days until the Test gets underway, Sportsmail answers all the big questions.

Why a 'fifth' Test?

India went 2-1 up after winning the fourth Test at the Oval last September, but pulled out of the series finale at Old Trafford on the morning of the game because of a Covid scare among their staff.

Mind you, they never wanted to play the game: the rescheduled IPL began soon after and none of their stars wanted to risk catching the virus and being holed up in Manchester.

Edgbaston, which was meant to host a Test against South Africa in August, instead swapped with Old Trafford.

Any new faces?

The possible absence of Sharma — which would be a huge blow after he hit 368 runs at 52 last summer — means the openers are likely to be Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill, neither of whom have played a Test in England.

No 3 Cheteshwar Pujara has since been dropped and recalled, after scoring heavily for Sussex, while Shreyas Iyer and/or Hanuma Vihari, who didn't play last summer, may come
