The free food deals for teenagers getting their GCSE results including Nando's chicken

Students up and down the country will be finding out their GCSE results on Thursday (August 25). This summer was the first in two years that teenagers have sat exams for their qualifications, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the freedom and excitement of the holidays, many people will be anxiously awaiting their grades. Regulators Ofqual said that GCSE results this year will 'reflect a midpoint between summer 2019 and 2021.' They added that grades 'will be higher than when summer exams were last sat, but lower than in 2021, when grades were awarded by teacher assessment.'

"Schools’ and colleges’ results are highly likely to be lower than in 2021 when exams did not go ahead. Very few schools or colleges, if any, will get higher results than in 2021," Ofqual said.

No matter the grades they receive, teenagers can bag themselves a great deal on results day. Here's what on offer for GCSE students on Thursday...

The Nando's student promotion returns for another year, giving teens the chance to claim a free ¼ chicken or starter. All you have to do is visit a restaurant to eat in, or order a walk-in collection, and show your results slip at the till.

The GCSE results can be physical or via e-mail. Students also need to bring their student ID and must spend more than £7 to claim their freebies.

Latin American eatery Las Iguanas is offering three free churros to students receiving their GCSE result - served with a choice of chocolate ganache or dulce de leche dips for dunking. Just head to your nearest restaurant with ID and proof of your results to claim the offer.
