The exciting youngster who can save Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard millions in transfer window

Aston Villa have a wealth of talent at academy level and few players demonstrate that more than Aaron Ramsey.

The 19-year-old is one of three Villa starlets currently representing England at the U19s European Championships. He started alongside teammates Tim Iroegbunam and Carney Chukwuemeka as the Young Lions recorded a 2-0 win over Austria, with the latter registering a goal and an assist.

While Chukwuemeka’s future at Villa Park has come under scrutiny and Iroegbunam has been touted with a possible loan move , there has been relatively little noise made about Ramsey’s progress. This will not be a new phenomenon for the attacking midfielder - who just watched elder brother Jacob enjoy his breakthrough season in the Premier League - but he looks to have an equally bright future as his U23 teammates.

The teenager captained Villa twice on their march to FA Youth Cup victory in 2021, though a return from injury saw him play 30 minutes as a substitute in the final at Villa Park. Ramsey then made his first team debut for his boyhood club in the 6-0 League Cup win over Barrow in August 2021, aged 18.

Having already become a regular in Mark Delaney’s U23 side in the previous campaign, the attacking midfielder made just seven appearances in Premier League 2 this season, scoring four and providing three assists. Ramsey subsequently followed the example set by several of Villa’s Youth Cup stars by going out on loan in January, joining Cheltenham Town in League One.

It is a mark of how highly-rated the younger Ramsey is around Bodymoor Heath that he was sent directly to League One. Compared with other Villa youngsters, Kaine Kesler Hayden made the step up to the third tier with MK Dons after impressing at Swindon
