The country estate 30 minutes from Greater Manchester promising family fun this weekend

Half term may be drawing to a close but you can still make the most of the few days remaining. Plenty of sunshine is forecast for the weekend, so get the family together and enjoy a day outside and soak up the sun.

Just over the border in Cheshire is the gorgeous Tatton Park with acres of land waiting to be explored. The historical estate features a Neo-Classical mansion, beautiful gardens, a farm, 1,000 acres of deer park, woodland areas and meres.

There are dozens of trails you can follow through the parkland and picturesque picnic spots. Little ones will love learning about all things animals at Tatton Park’s working farm, while grown-ups can enjoy the gorgeous displays in the gardens.

Throughout half term Tatton Park has hosted activities inspired by the much-loved author Judith Kerr, and there’s still time to catch them. Kids can follow The Tiger Who Came to Tea Garden trail in the spring gardens. Trail packs are available for £2, along with playful tiger masks.

Until June 4 there are storytelling sessions in the gardens each day from 11am to 4pm. Little ones can enjoy listening to Judith Kerr’s classic tales, including Mog the Forgetful Cat.

This weekend Tatton Park is hosting the Classic and Performance Car SHow, which promises to be a fun day out for all the family. More than 2,000 classic cars will be on display, and visitors can also expect a children’s funfair and live music. Tickets can be purchased on the day at the ticket booth, adults cost £12 while under 16s go free.

Tatton Park is open from 10am to 6pm, last entry 5pm. Ticket prices vary depending on what you plan to visit. For more information, visit the
