The Chase fans 'in tears' as lone quizzer beats Paul Sinha in nail-biting final seconds

The Chase fans were left on the edge of their seats on Monday’s instalment of the ITV show, as one lone contestant went head-to-head with The Sinnerman in the final.

Former IT technician Alan, 62, faced off with ITV ’s Paul Sinha in the nail-biting final for £9,000 on the hit game show.

Alan looked to be near tears after cinching the win, as he said he planned to spend the cash on a cruise for him and his wife.

The Sinnerman replied by congratulating Alan and then said: “I had a feeling this wasn't going to end well for me and it turned out to be right.”

The Chase fans were ecstatic at home, with many taking to Twitter to congratulate underdog Alan, calling it “one of the best solo runs” on the show.

One fan wrote: “Legit crying for Alan. Look at his little face YES YES YES #TheChase.”

A second tweeted: “Absolutely brilliant win by Alan, supremely well played mate well done #thechase.”

A third wrote: “Wow!!!! Hugest congratulations Alan!!! That was phenomenal! 1vs1 and he beat @paulsinha ! What a brilliant team, pity they were knocked out! Wow! #TheChase” as another chimed in: “Well done Alan! Hero. Properly deserves every penny of that nine grand. What a performance. #TheChase.”

A fellow social media user wrote: “Well deserved Alan! So happy for you. He looked like he was going to breakdown in tears the
