The best of Mark Westley's pictures as Kent comfortably beat Suffolk at Woolpit Cricket Club

Kent built-up to their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign in impressive fashion on Sunday with a big National County win over Suffolk.

Alex Blake, who was skippering Kent in place of Joe Denly - with a late decision being made not to use the former England batsman - elected to bat first.

Despite a bright start from Tawanda Muyeye and Ben Compton, Muyeye was run-out by Suffolk wicketkeeper Jacob Marston for six.

That left Kent 17-1 but they then moved to 235-2 as both opener Compton (133) and wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson (139) struck centuries.

South African all-rounder George Linde, with a 30-ball 56 not out, and veteran all-rounder Darren Stevens (34 off 21 balls) chipped in, too, to get Kent to a massive total of 431-7.

In reply, both Suffolk openers Darren Batch (72) and Jack Beaumont (64) produced half-centuries to get them to 134-1 in the 26th over.

Darren Ironside (53 not out) also hit a half-century but the total Kent had set simply proved way too much for Suffolk who ended up on 291-5 from their 50 overs.

Recent arrival Joey Evison (2-23) and spinner Hamidullah Qadri (2-51) earned two wickets apiece.

Kent start their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign at Worcestershire tomorrow.
