The beautiful country walk with breath-taking views ending with a hidden brewery and stunning beer garden

On a warm summer's day, there's nothing better than a leisurely walk in the countryside - and if it ends with a beer garden then you really have lucked out.

Here in Greater Manchester we're blessed to have a number of idyllic beauty spots and scenic trails on tap as well as those within short driving distance. Many offer the added incentive of a pub on route or at the end of your expedition, so you can grab a well-deserved pint to cap it off.

Just over the border in Lancashire is Rivington, a beautiful area home to reservoirs, hidden gardens and ruins. There are dozens of walks you can take throughout the area, as well as the magical Rivington Terraced Gardens, a historic grounds and woodland created by the Lord of Leverhulme and inspired by his overseas travels.

It's here that you will encounter a hidden Japanese Garden and Italian-style lakes, archways, waterfalls and even caves. But if you're after a breathtaking view, carry on up to Rivington Pike.

From the top of the hill you can see as far as Blackpool Tower and the Lake District mountains on a clear day, while the Pike Tower is instantly recognisable from miles around.

Meanwhile, if you pass through the village of Rivington, taking Horrobin Lane, you will have the chance to see two of the area's five reservoirs before landing at Rivington Brewery Co taproom. A contemporary, craft brewery and tap room founded in 2014 in Rivington, it focuses on innovative, modern styles of beer and features a brilliant outdoor area.
