The amazing woodland park where families can play crazy golf for a quid

We all know how much the school holidays cost and when families are already struggling, it can be hard to keep the kids entertained.

But there's one park in Greater Manchester where the crazy golf course costs just £1 per person.

The 18-hole course is at Haigh Woodland Park, in Wigan.

Often referred to as 'the jewel in Wigan's crown', it encompasses 250 acres of park and woodland surrounding the historic Haigh Hall.

The crazy golf is managed by the Friends of Haigh Woodland Park, with each hole carefully crafted by the volunteers of the group.

It offers something the whole family can enjoy and lets you play through the dinosaur, past the lighthouse, under Humpty Dumpty and around Captain Jack Sparrow.

It's located opposite the High Ropes course in the heart of the park. All proceeds raised by the attraction are re-invested back into the park, helping to maintain the course, support improvement works and fund free events such as the Picnic Brass Summer Concert Series, as well as educational schemes.

The free adventure playground is another highlight, with climbing, a treehouse and interactive play features. Families tell us they like it because there is something for all ages, with climbing frames and ropes to challenge the older ones, and smaller equipment such as swings and seesaws for younger ones.

Inside the woodland areas you'll often find families making dens and there are plenty of events on throughout the year, like singalong cinema events and outdoor theatre.

The park is also home to a separate Adventure Golf course, footgolf, a trim trail and not one but two railways for families to enjoy a train ride.
