The ‘absolutely magical’ North Wales tearoom you need to visit this autumn

Perched beside a river in North Wales is perhaps one of the most photographed tearooms in the country. Each autumn the Tu Hwnt i’r Bont tearoom in Llanrwst is transformed as its covering of Virginia Creeper turns a deep red in the autumn.

Its fairytale-worthy looks have been featured in countless Instagram posts and Tik Tok videos, while one visitor described it as “absolutely magical’ on Tripadvisor.” There’s only a short period of time when you can see this spectacle, with the leaves changing in September, but even if you miss the gorgeous colours this picturesque tearoom is worthy of a visit at any time of the year.

The cottage sits beside the river and is surrounded by trees, making it look like somewhere from a fairytale. Inside there is a cosy interior with exposed wooden beams and antiques. The grade II-listed building dates back to the 15th century beginning life as a farmhouse, but today it's a popular tea room where you can tuck into traditional Welsh treats such as Bara birth or Welsh rarebit.

Sitting on the banks of the River Conwy, it’s only a stone’s throw away from Snowdonia National Park. It’s around a two-hour drive from Greater Manchester, so if you’re in North Wales this autumn be sure to pay it a visit.

Several visitors have described it a “must visit” on Tripadvisor thanks to its picture-postcard appearance. DJoNeS183 wrote: “Stopped off here during a drive through Snowdonia. What a cute little place…A must when passing through Llanwrst. There is a little car park and nice views over the river.”Reviewer Lolly added: “Absolutely magical, the surroundings, atmosphere, elegance and class is spot on.”
