The 50 best gastropubs in the UK have been named - full list

The UK's finest gastropubs have been named in an eagerly-anticipated Top 50 countdown. Pub owners learnt the news of where they placed in the prestigious Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub list at a special event held on Monday night.

They assembled at last year's number one pub - The Parkers Arms in Newton-in-Bowland, Lancashire. The Parkers is ranked at number 7 this year, while the top spot has been claimed by Suffolk's The Unruly Pig.

Fellow Lancashire pub, the Freemasons at Wiswell, in the Ribble Valley, also ranks highly at number 9. However only one Manchester pub makes the Top 50 this year - the Edinburgh Castle pub in Ancoats - which comes in at a very respectable 24.

Meanwhile Heft in Cumbria was named as this year's highest climber at the awards unveiling, taking the Number 11 spot. The 17h century coaching inn last year won a Michelin Star for husband and wife team Kevin and Nicola Tickle.

The Pack Horse in Hayfield also stays in the top 20, taking its place at number 19. The Peak District pub is known for its stunning Sunday roasts and picture perfect setting.
