The 10 cheapest homes that sold in Greater Manchester for less than £50,000 this year

The cheapest homes bought across Greater Manchester in the last few months have been revealed. Ten properties sold between April and June this year for bargain amounts ranging from £40,000 to £50,000.

Three of the homes were sold in Wigan, which is the region's most affordable borough to buy a home with an average house price of £167,662 . The borough is home to some of the cheapest areas such as Ince, Pemberton andPlatt Bridge where house prices are extremely low.

The boroughs of Oldham and Rochdale also had sales for less than £50,000, with three of the cheapest homes selling in Middleton. Some bargain homes also sold in boroughs that are typically known to be more expensive such as Salford, Stockport and Manchester.

The most recent figures from the Office for National Statistics come as house prices in the UK have fallen for the first time this year, according to Rightmove's latest house price index.

The average price of a property coming onto the market is now £365,173, which has dropped by 1.3 per cent in August.

Hollins Road, Oldham

820 Hollins Road, which is a two-bed terraced house in Oldham, sold for £40,000 on April 22 - one of the cheapest sales recorded during this time.

David Street, Bury

A terrace home in Bury, at no.55 on David Street, also sold for £40,000 on April 28.

Baguley Crescent, Middleton

On May 26, a flat at no.70 Baguley Crescent in Middleton, Rochdale was bought for £43,000.

This sale may have been a buy-to-let, a transfer to a company, or a repossession.
