'That will happen' - Journalist convinced Forest will make another 'exceptional' signing

Nottingham Forest will complete the signing of Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien this summer, according to Jacque Talbot.

The 23-year-old has stood out as arguably Huddersfield’s most influential player in recent years, being described as ‘exceptional’ by Carlos Corberan.

O’Brien came up against Forest in the Championship playoff final back in May but he has since been linked with a summer move to the City Ground, with reports suggesting the two clubs are in talks over a bid for both O’Brien and Harry Toffolo.

The former’s current Huddersfield deal expires in the summer of 2025, so it could take a sizeable bid to prise him away.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Talbot claimed a deal for O’Brien would be completed in the near future:

“I think the Lewis O’Brien one, they’ll get that over the line soon from Huddersfield, that will happen.

“I think Forest must do a few more outgoings to bring anyone in at this point, but the O’Brien one certainly has got legs there. And I imagine that will be sort of done relatively soon.”

O’Brien’s name may not jump out as much as more high-profile players performing in more attractive leagues than the Championship, but he could be a superb signing by Forest.

He possesses class on the ball with his left foot, registering three goals and assists apiece in the league last season, but he is also hard-working off it, averaging a hugely impressive 2.4 tackles per match across his career.

At 23, he has years ahead of him to become an even more formidable player and under Steve Cooper he could thrive, helping Forest hopefully retain their Premier League status and proving to be a key presence in the middle of the park.
