'That is a Championship back four' - Jamie Carragher blasts Everton in Tottenham mauling

Jamie Carragher has labelled Everton’s defenders a ‘Championship back four’ as they were torn to shreds by Tottenham in the Premier League on Monday night.

Frank Lampard’s side were 3-0 down at half-time in north London thanks to a Michael Keane own goal and strikes from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

Spurs were cutting through the Toffees defence with remarkable ease and Carragher feels that the away side’s defence is clearly not cut out for the top flight.

Everton find themselves in a genuine relegation battle, and while that seemed very unlikely at the start of the season, Carragher reckons it is no surprise while looking at the defenders on show.

Things got immediately worse for Lampard and Everton after the break when half-time substitute Sergio Reguilon scored just one minute into the second period, before Harry Kane made it 5-0 with a sublime volley on 55 minutes.

Defeat on Monday night will leave Everton 17th in the Premier League table,
