Tess Daly 'would rather lock Vernon Kay up' once a year as he details disagreement

BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay has confessed that his wife, Tess Daly, isn't too thrilled when he spends a "fortune" of their money annually for one particular event.

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly and fellow television personality Vernon Kay have been wedded for over two decades, but it appears they still encounter disagreements on how to allocate their finances.

Vernon even revealed that once a year, his spouse "would rather lock him up" as he tends to go all out when throwing a party for Bonfire Night each November.

In a chat with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett for their Dish podcast in 2023, Vernon offered a glimpse into the festivities the couple organise at their family home.

When asked if they ever host dinner parties, Vernon responded: "Kind of, I like things like Bonfire Night, because Bonfire Night is usually chippy night, and I like fireworks - I like explosions!

"So, Bonfire Night, for me... I think Tess would rather lock me up, because I spent a fortune - I always do on Bonfire Night! We get a load of fish and chips in.."

Chef Angela then chimed in: "I'm just going to come and sit outside your house and see the display, it would be amazing", to which Vernon warmly invited, "You're more than welcome".

Vernon Kay opened up about his relaxed approach to hosting, as he described: "We have buffet-style fish and chips, we get a load of fish and chips in and put them on the hot plate - we have a warming Lazy Susan - so it spins and warms! It's perfect, absolutely brilliant."

He expressed a preference for easy-going meals over "posh food," especially when he's in charge of the fireworks display, saying, "I like entertaining with no fuss, because as soon as you get into posh food..." His sentiment was
