"Ten Hag will make that a priority" - Insider shares update from MUFC source on £63m-rated ace

Manchester United managerial target Erik ten Hag will make getting Marcus Rashford back to his best again a “priority”, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

Ten Hag is expected to replace Ralf Rangnick in the Old Trafford dugout next season, and Jones has revealed that making Rashford a star player again is on top of the 52-year-old’s agenda.

According to The Athletic, United have reached an agreement in principle with the Ajax boss for him to become their next manager.

The same report states that Ten Hag is expected to join the Red Devils on a contract that could run for up to four years.

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was also thought to be in contention for the Old Trafford job, but he now looks set to remain at Paris Saint-Germain after United’s decision to make Ten Hag their preferred candidate.

One task the Dutchman is almost certain to face is convincing Rashford to remain at the club. The Guardian reported last month that the £63m-rated forward is considering asking for a transfer after growing disillusioned with life under Rangnick.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Ten Hag is keen to help Rashford turn things around at Old Trafford and will make that a priority if he gets the United job as expected.

The football journalist said: “One of the big things he’s interested in is Marcus Rashford, as in: what has happened to him? I’m told he’s very keen to get to the bottom of that situation and turn it around.

“United don’t want him to leave. They want him to become a star player again, and Ten Hag will make that a priority.”

They do, especially if Ten Hag plans to make him central to his plans, which looks to be the case.
