Ten Hag reveals he may make a 'romantic' return to Ajax in the future
Manchester United's new manager Erik ten Hag says he could make a ‘romantic’ return to Ajax in future alongside disgraced director of football Marc Overmars.
Overmars quit the Dutch champions in February over inappropriate messages sent to female colleagues, and has since joined Royal Antwerp.
Ten Hag credited the former Arsenal star for his part in Ajax’s title success.
‘We humans are in this world to help each other not to shoot each other,’ he said.
‘This championship is also his championship. We built this team together. After the game against Heerenveen, I also congratulated Marc with the title via text. It’s a romantic thought to return to Ajax together one day. We have been very successful together. It’s hard to say if it will happen, but it could happen.’

Ten Hag will miss Ajax’s end-of-season trip to Curacao to focus on United, and he confirmed that his employment began on Monday even though he will not officially take over from Ralf Rangnick until after Sunday’s final game at Crystal Palace.
His Ajax No 2 Mitchell van der Gaag and former United assistant Steve McClaren are set to join his backroom team.
