'Ten Hag has...' - Sky Sports man drops 'significant' Man Utd claim after news 'out of Holland'

Former England international Danny Mills has made a claim on Manchester United’s attempts to bring Erik ten Hag to Old Trafford, Football Insider report.

The Red Devils appeared to be closing in on Ten Hag’s services last week, with reports suggesting a move was gathering pace.

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed the Dutchman has demanded to be 100% involved when it comes to new signings, outgoings and fresh contracts and believes that is now a ‘key point’ when it comes to a United rebuild.

A move doesn’t appear to be set in stone just yet, even though United have apparently already discussed compensation with Ajax and how to deal with a formal announcement.

Mills, former Manchester City defender who now contributes for Sky Sports, was talking to FI about United and Ten Hag, admitting he’s heard news ‘out of Holland’ which have said it’s not a formality just yet.

He also added that Ten Hag would make ‘significant changes to the playing staff’, should he be given control at Old Trafford.

“There are one or two reports out of Holland saying it’s not done and dusted.

“Ten Hag has got one or two reservations, he wants to make sure that he’s got everything he wants.

“He will have looked at what has happened in the past and has clearly spoken with Louis van Gaal as well. He’s under no illusions and wants to make sure everything is absolutely right.

“I remember speaking to Gareth Southgate when he was offered the England job and it’s similar. It’s a great position but he was going to go into it with everything that he wanted to make sure it could be a success.

“Ten Hag will be the same. If you go back and look at his career, at the early days at Ajax players weren’t too sure.

“He wants to be on the training ground day in, day out.
