Teenager's funeral brings town to a standstill as hundreds of mourners gather at football ground

Stockport was brought to a standstill today for the funeral of a teenage boy killed in a crash.

Hundreds of mourners lined the town's streets to say a final farewell to 16-year-old Dean Barnes, who died following the fatal smash on Ainsdale Grove in Reddish in January.

People hung from car windows and drivers beeped their horns and revved their engines as a horse-drawn carriage carried Dean on his final journey from his home in Brinnington to Edgeley Park - the home of Stockport County - where friends and family gathered for a service at midday.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released on bail.

Following Dean's death, his loved ones paid tribute to him and described him as a 'ball of energy'. "He was
