Teenager charged with murder appears in court as deceased is named
A teenager charged with murder has appeared in court and could go on trial this winter. Joseph McGowan, 19, is accused of the murder of 51-year-old Darren McGowan.
Mr McGowan was taken to hospital in the early hours of Sunday, April 30, after being found with serious injuries at a house on Glebe Street, Offerton, Stockport. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died a few days later, on May 3.

Joseph McGowan appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Monday morning after being charged with murder. He was brought before Judge Nicholas Dean KC, the Honorary Recorder of Manchester, who fixed a potential trial date for November.
Mr McGowan was not asked to enter a plea, and he is next due to appear in court in August. The judge remanded Mr McGowan in custody.
