Teenage runner Charlotte Henrich from Canterbury claims second Commonwealth Youth Games silver as part of England’s mixed 4x400m relay team in Trinidad and Tobago

There has been more Commonwealth Youth Games success for teenage Canterbury runner Charlotte Henrich.

Henrich, 16, was part of the England mixed 4x400m relay team which came second, having also won a silver medal in the women’s 400m race earlier in the week.

England’s quartet of Invicta East Kent athlete Henrich, Alex Beck, Stanley Chevous and Stephanie Okoro clocked 3min22.29sec at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

“So proud of the whole team and special thanks to Shani [Palmer, speed lead coach],” Beck posted on his Instagram story.

“Absolute legend.”

Chevous added: “Big effort from the team to secure second place.”

England finished 25 seconds behind Guyana but they were some way clear of the rest of the field on Friday, which was led by third-placed Australia (3:26.23).

Henrich came between two athletes from Guyana in the women’s 400m race.
