Ted Kravitz says Ferrari & McLaren have made most progress since end of 2021

Sky Sports’ Ted Kravitz has said that Ferrari and McLaren appear to have made the biggest leap forwards in terms of moving from 2021 to 2022, in a prediction that will undoubtedly go down well with fans of the two Formula 1 teams.

Testing in Barcelona took place last week at the Circuit de Catalunya and it was great to see each of the 10 new cars take to the track and get put through their paces for the first time.

Of course, it’s hard to say at this early stage just who is the strongest looking in terms of the teams but it does seem fair enough to suggest that both Ferrari and McLaren have made steps in the right direction.

Indeed, that is something that Ted Kravitz believes, with him speaking to fans during a Q&A session for Sky Sports on Monday afternoon.

He was asked which teams he felt had made the biggest strides forwards over the winter and replied:

“Undoubtedly McLaren and Ferrari.”

Furthermore, he predicted Ferrari could win races this year, though they may not win the championship:

“I think they’ll will races – but I just don’t see them challenging for the championship.

“I hope I’m wrong!”

Whilst he said he felt the McLaren looked the most consistent right now – though he warned Red Bull and Mercedes do still seem to have the most raw pace:

“The most consistent is McLaren, but the one with the advantage is still probably Mercedes or Red Bull – though only by a couple of tenths.

“Red Bull just got on with it in the tests, did what they needed to do. I don’t think they quite know yet how they stack up against everybody, but it’s obviously a top line car and an adventurous car.

“They did a very, very good lap time on pretty hard tyres so they’re going to be up there – and I think they could be quickest.”
