Tank time for the Steelers, end of the road for Carson Wentz?: 5 talking points from NFL Week 5

The NFL has given us another incredible week of action, and we have looked at what some of the biggest talking points coming out of it are. 

We aren’t going to get tired of saying this, but this NFL season has just been one of the best. From all the various storylines that keep popping up, to the incredible plays to the dramatic moments, no week is ever the same as the last, and yet they always give you the same feeling of excitement. 

But as is also the case with the NFL, you can never keep track of everything that is going on across all the stadiums and all the games (no matter how intensely you watch NFL Redzone and all the other games, you are always going to miss something).

And so as is tradition on GiveMeSport, we have broken down what we think are the five biggest talking points to come of the weekend in the National Football League, and what their impact could be on the rest of the season going forward.

And so without further ado, here we go

Those of a certain age might remember ‘The Matt Flynn Game’, where he played incredible for the Green Bay Packers in the final game of the season and then ended up pretty much having a whole career out of it, even if it was just as a backup for the most part. I think that might have just happened with New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe.

With his performance against the Detroit Lions this past weekend (ironically the same team Matt Flynn played against), he might have just announced himself as a serious quarterback talent in this league. He probably won’t be the long-term starter in New England, that spot goes to Mac Jones, but he might have just earned himself a lifetime in the NFL off the back of that game.
