Swindon Town: Fundraiser launched for fan, six, who sent letter with 26p attached
A fundraiser has been set up for a six-year-old Swindon Town fan who said he can’t attend matches because his mum “has no money for food”.
Swindon are currently searching for Joe, who sent a letter to the League Two club attached with 26p for forward Harry McKirdy.
“Mummy doesn’t have any money to come to Swindon games because she has no money for food and has to pay for my dinner at school,” the letter reads.
“I like Swindon Town Harry McKirdy. I will come one day.
“Joe Aged 6 ½.”
Attached to the letter with sellotape was a 20p, a 5p and a 1p coin for McKirdy, who scored Swindon’s goal in a 4-1 defeat to Premier League champions Manchester City in the FA Cup last month.
Joe’s letter has gone viral on social media after it touched the hearts of football fans.
Swindon, meanwhile, posted the following tweet on Tuesday: “We have received this letter from Town fan Joe, aged 6 and a half.
“We’d really love to get in touch with Joe, but we don’t have a return address.
“If anyone recognises the writing or thinks they know who Joe is, please email supporters@swindontownfc.co.uk”.
