Manchester City have not yet made any decision on James McAtee's future, WalesOnline has been told.

Reports over the weekend had suggested that the newly-crowned Premier League champions were prepared to sanction a possible loan move this summer, citing Swansea City and Huddersfield Town as possible destinations.

However, sources in the north-west have claimed that Man City have not yet decided on the youngster's fate for next season, with the player expected to feature as part of the club's pre-season plans as planned. Indeed, it's understood a call on what happens next is unlikely to be made until towards the end of the summer.

McAtee has been on the radar of the Swans for some time, and was heavily tipped for a potential loan move to south Wales back in January. Queens Park Rangers were also very keen, but a move never materialised.

The 19-year-old went on to sign a new contract shortly after the January window closed, in a deal that will keep him at the Etihad until 2026. Nicknamed the 'Salford Silva', it's clear that he's very highly rated by those at Man City, although it seems unlikely that he'll see too many first-team minutes next term.

City have previously been keen to keep the forward at the club to allow Pep Guardiola to keep a closer eye on his progress, but a loan spell next term hasn't been categorically ruled out. Should McAtee become available, it's understood Swansea would likely be among a clutch of clubs interested in taking him on, and might well be well placed to get a deal over the line.
