Swansea City 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday: Michael Duff gets first league win to relieve pressure on shoulders

Swansea City got their first league win of the season as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 to ease the pressure on under-fire boss Michael Duff. After a run of dismal performances, the Swans finally got three points on the board thanks to goals from Jamal Lowe, Jerry Yates and Arsenal loanee Charlie Patino.

A first-half penalty from Lowe put the home side in control at the Swansea.com Stadium before Yates and Patino put them out of sight with two well-taken finishes. The win lifts the Swans out of the Championship relegation zone, while the hurt goes on for Wednesday and boss Xisco Munoz.

He knew too that they were unlikely to get a better chance than against the Yorkshire side, who were also looking for their first league win of the season going into Saturday’s contest. The Northern Irishman made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with QPR in midweek, with Patino and Kristian Pedersen coming in and Jay Fulton and Bashir Humphreys dropping to the bench.
