Swansea City 2-2 Hull City: John Egan drills home late equaliser to deny hosts victory

John Egan's late equaliser for Hull City denied Swansea City all three points on their return to Championship action at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The centre-back popped up in the seventh minute of injury time to fire home and snatch a share of the spoils for his side.

For all the noise that's been rumbling on over the last couple of weeks, this was a welcome chance for Swansea fans to turn their attention to some actual football, but many will have left frustrated after seeing their team twice surrender the lead against a Hull side that arrived in south Wales having lost their last two Championship outings.

Zan Vipotnik put the hosts in front just before half-time, only for former Swansea hero Oli McBurnie to mark his return to SA1 with an equaliser a few minutes later.

Swansea thought they'd taken all three points just before the hour after Ronald tapped home a Zeidane Inoussa cross for his fourth goal of the season, but Egan popped up deep into stoppage to squeeze home a late equaliser after a sustained period of pressure.

The hosts remain seventh on the back of this result, and while there were some real positives to take, boss Alan Sheehan might well view this as an opportunity missed for his side, as they bid to make their mark on the Championship reckoning this season.

Indeed, for all their dominance of possession for long periods of the game, there's no denying that Lawrence Vigouroux was the busier of the two goalkeepers on the day.

Were it not for a string of good saves from the Chilean international, there's an argument Swansea may well have come away here with nothing.
